Academy Admission
Barnsley Academy is proud to serve our local community and we are happy to take our students using agreed admissions criteria. We do not select our students on any basis, including by aptitude or ability. We welcome students of all faiths and none.
We have specialist status for Science, and though our curriculum is broad and balanced, we do give an extra emphasis on science, in its broadest terms, to reflect this status.
Barnsley Academy is also happy to use the Common Admissions Arrangements in place across the Local Authority for admission into Year 7. Parents of Year 6 students must apply for Barnsley Academy by using the Common Applications Form.
Parents of students who wish to make a late application for Year 7 at Barnsley Academy (after the Local Authority offer date which is usually 1 March) should contact the Academy directly for an application pack.
Parents of students who wish to transfer into Barnsley Academy in Years 8 to 11 should approach the Academy directly for an application pack for this purpose.
Barnsley Academy also operates a Sixth Form provision. Any student interested in applying should contact the Academy for a Sixth Form Application Pack.
We hope you will join us.
