Barnsley Academy Curriculum
The Curriculum at Barnsley Academy has been created to give the students we serve as many opportunities to experience different subject areas before they specialise when they come to the end of Key Stage 3.All students study for 25 periods a week all which last for 1 hour, students are also able to enhance their studies through after school classes and enrichment activities.
The Curriculum at the Academy has been designed with input from teaching staff as well as the students themselves. In the most recent Ofsted report (2009) the inspectors gave the Curriculum a Grade 2 (Good) and commented that: “Overall the curriculum is good, notably at Key Stage 4.
The academy's specialism in science has been used effectively to lead the way in tailoring the curriculum to students' needs. ”The Curriculum is updated every year to take into account the changing needs of the students and also to take account of any changes of legislation that the Government may bring into effect.
Please select the appropriate link for the Key Stage to explore our Curriculum further. The option choices for 201112 Curriculum will be added to these pages in early January.
