Barnsley Academy Most Improved School in Yorkshire

Barnsley Academy is Yorkshire's most improved school. Last summer 55 per cent of students gained five good GCSEs including maths and English, placing the academy just a fraction behind the national average of 58 per cent.

Principal Dave Berry said: “We are absolutely delighted with our standing in the latest tables, which demonstrates consistent GCSE improvement at the academy.

"This is a credit to the students, staff and communities of Kendray and Worsbrough Bank End, which the academy supports.”
