800 per cent Improvement
Barnsley Academy achieved its best-ever results with 86 per cent of students gaining five good GCSE’s and 54 per cent gaining five A* to C grades including English and maths, an 800 per cent improvement on five years ago.
The results are particularly striking since the 74-strong GCSE cohort was the first to come through their whole time in the secondary school under Mr Berry’s regime, which has emphasised a return to traditional values.
