Students' Agreement

Our Students' Agreement
Barnsley Academy promises that it will provide you with an experience which:
- Welcomes your contribution and takes your individual needs seriously
- Discovers, develops and makes the most of your talents
- Celebrates each time you achieve a new Personal Best
- Prepares you for a successful adult life
- Gives you the confidence to be creative
- Gives you the inner strength to cope with challenges
- Gives you values which mean you will care about and respect others
- Empowers you to make decisions so that you can stay safe, healthy and happy
You will know this is happening when:
- Any bullying issue is dealt with quickly and effectively
- You develop a Personal Best e-portfolio that you are proud of
- You take part in shows, sporting events and other competitions
- You have a chance to meet with the Principal to raise any issues
- Your work is marked on time with helpful comments
- Your effort and progress is recognised regularly
- You achieve your targets and get the best exam results that you are capable of
- You act as a student mentor to a younger student
- You get involved in a Community Action Project
- You value the teaching and learning that is provided for you
- You enjoy coming to the Academy every day
As a student at Barnsley Academy you must:
- Care for your Academy, including our environment, our resources and our neighbours
- Aim for a 100% attendance rate every new term
- Get to lessons on time and with the equipment you need
- Work hard in lessons and do as your teacher asks
- Always complete homework and coursework as well as you can
- Respect others and report any bullying immediately
- Get involved in the many enrichment activities on offer
- Take a pride in your uniform and appearance
- Stay away from being involved with any illegal or harmful substances
[Failure to do this is likely to result in your immediate and permanent exclusion from Barnsley Academy] - Use the available channels to raise any complaints/concerns you may have
