Appropriate kit is important in Physical Education and Dance, as it allows our students to move freely during activities, as well as providing them with a change of clothes that they do not mind getting sweaty, muddy or dirty!
The following PE kit is mandatory in years 7-11, and should be brought to all PE lessons:
- Sky blue polo shirt with Barnsley Academy logo
- Black shorts
- Black football socks
- An appropriate change of footwear (pumps are not appropriate)
The following kit is optional, but students may be advised to bring these based on weather conditions, or for areas where their lessons may take place:
*All of the items below must be blue/black/grey with no large logos
- Jumper/hooded top/waterproof jacket
- Tracksuit bottoms
- Thermal tops/leggings
- Warm hat
- Peaked hat
- Studded/moulded boots
The following kit is recommended for any contact sports (E.g. Rugby/Gaelic football etc), but is not mandatory:
- Mouthguard – available to buy from the PE office
- Scrum cap
- Shoulder pads
- Shin pads
If students cannot participate in physical activity they should have a note in their planner from a parent/carer to confirm this, however they should bring kit regardless unless this is not physically possible. Where possible, students will remain with their teaching group, and play an active role in the lesson without taking on a competitive role.
All decisions on the appropriateness of kit will be made at the discretion of the PE department.
If there are any questions regarding kit please do not hesitate to contact Head of PE and Dance, Mr J Pirie, via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or telephone (01226284606)
