Extra‑curricular clubs and activities are a very important part of the Barnsley Academy experience, giving students the opportunity to develop new skills, talents and character beyond the classroom. We offer a wide variety of clubs including multiple sports, performing and creative arts, cooking, computing and technology, with the timetable updated each term.
Regular attendance is essential for students’ academic, social and emotional development. If your child has chosen to attend a club, please encourage them to participate consistently. If they are unable to attend on a particular week, they should inform the staff member running the session.
Our enrichment programme offers three key pathways:
Elective‑Based Enrichment
Students choose activities that match their interests and passions. From creative arts to sports, computer science, Formula 1 and Dungeons and Dragons, these sessions allow students to explore new skills, discover talents and build confidence in areas they enjoy.
Project‑Based Enrichment
Project-based sessions enable students to work collaboratively on real‑world challenges and longer‑term projects. This approach encourages creativity, problem‑solving, leadership and independent learning, helping students develop valuable skills that extend beyond the curriculum.
Community Enrichment
Community enrichment focuses on service, citizenship and contribution. Students take part in activities that support the local community, build positive connections and promote social responsibility. These experiences help them understand empathy, teamwork and the impact they can have on others.
