Key Stage 4 PE and Health Curriculum
In key Stage 4 all students complete vocational qualifications, the OCR Cambridge National in Sports Science, OCR Cambridge National in Health & Social Care. This allows students to develop a range of skills such as leadership, understanding of body systems, fitness testing and nutrition for healthy lifestyles. With these qualifications, students can move on to further study in PE, Sport and health, or pursue a career in the sports and health industry.
OCR Cambridge National in Sports Science
Reducing the risk of sports injuries
In this unit you will
A - Understand different factors which influence the risk of injury
B - Understand how appropriate warm up and cool down routines can help to prevent injury
C – Know how to respond to injuries within a sporting context
D - Know how to respond to common medical conditions
Applying principles of training
In this unit you will:
A - Know the principles of training in a sporting context
B - Know how training methods target different fitness components
C - Be able to conduct fitness tests
D - Be able to develop fitness training programmes

OCR Cambridge National Health & Social Care - Optional qualification
Core Units: Both units will be covered.
Essential Values of care for use with individuals in care settings
In this unit you will:

B - Understand the importance of values of care
C - Understand how legislation impacts on care settings
D - Understand how personal hygiene, safety and security measures protect individuals
Communicating and working with individuals in health, social care, and early years settings
In this unit you will:
A - Understand how to communicate effectively
B - Understand personal qualities that contribute to effective care
C - Be able to communicate effectively within a health, social care, and early years settings
