BA Community Engage celebrates how our students and staff work with local organisations, families and community groups to make a positive difference across Barnsley. These projects reflect our core values of ambition, determination and respect, helping students climb their Character Mountain through real experiences of service, leadership and teamwork.

Cradle to Careers at Barnsley Academy

Barnsley Academy is proud to be part of the national Cradle to Career programme – a place‑based approach developed to ensure that every child receives consistent, connected support from early childhood through to adulthood. The programme focuses on strengthening the systems around children so that no family falls through the gaps, recognising that stable relationships, great schools, positive wellbeing, and strong community connections are key to helping young people thrive.
 
Cradle to Career brings together local leaders across education, health, care, and community services to create a coherent and joined‑up network of support. It acknowledges that while schools play a vital role in shaping children’s futures, they cannot tackle wider challenges alone – lasting change happens when organisations work together with a shared vision.
 
By engaging in this nationally recognised approach, Barnsley Academy is helping build a stronger, more connected support system for children and families in our community. Our involvement reinforces our commitment to ensuring that every young person feels safe, supported, and able to reach their full potential.
